KING JOHN`S MORRIS MEN of Southampton
KJM were formed in 1975/76 by students from Southampton who felt the need for a permanent team in the City rather one bound to the academic year. The club has gone from strength to strength over the years and performs the Cotswold, Northwest (clog), and Border styles of Morris as well as Mummers Plays at Christmas, hopefully to the highest standard – well maybe not the Mumming!! KJM have performed at many major festivals both at home and abroad, including the Third Babylon International Festival in Iraq, where along with Handsworth Traditional Sword Dancers, they represented The Morris Ring.
Wickham Morris
Wickham Morris is a mixed Morris side who perform traditional English Cotswold and Border dances. Our main dancing circuit from May to September encompasses the pubs and fetes along the Meon Valley, but we have entertained, too, at social dances, barn dances, opening ceremonies and weddings, in the process raising funds for our charities. We meet every Thursday and new members are always welcome.

Alton Morris
Alton Morris dance in the Border Morris style which comes from the border counties of England and Wales. It has big, vigorous movements and lots of stick clashing, and quite often is accompanied by a big band of musicians. We’ve adapted the traditional Border black face disguise and made it red and green to match our ‘tatters’ costume and our Hampshire town colours.
Southern Lights
Formed in 1997, Southern Lights display ladies’ folk dance mainly in a Southern style (no clogs, no marching, no big drums or big flowery hats!). Our aim is to keep the dancing tradition alive, give it modern relevance and bring it to the public’s attention.
Most of our repertoire consists of dances created for the side, using traditional steps and formations in an innovative way.We dance to our own band, who play not only traditional dance tunes, but also contemporary tunes from some of today’s finest composers in the world of folk music.
