Aelfgythe Border Morris

Aelfgythe Border Morris is based in Alvechurch, Worcestershire and we dance in the traditional border style.  Many of our dances are written by our Forewoman Jennie, and we also use traditional border dances – very often with our own ‘Gythe’ twist!  The side consists of female dancers, and male and female musicians.  We dance at local events and various festivals around the country.  We are excited to be entertaining the audience prior to The Lock Inn –Christmas Carol, and hope you enjoy the performances both inside and outside the theatre.  If you would like to try dancing with us, or play an instrument and would like to join the band please contact Pam – The Squire – on 07961 830 831.  All you need to bring with you is a sense of fun and a willingness to have a go!  Alternatively, email us for more information.

Silhill  Morris

Silhill Morris have been performing traditional Border Morris style dances for about 25 years, being based in the Wythall area of North Worcestershire. They are not only to be seen in the winter months at events such as traditional Wassails, but dance the year around at events both near and far, undertaking evening events, day events and participating in whole weekends of dance with other morris people. Unlike many of the local border morris groups, they welcome both men and women, both as dancers and musicians. Their rag jackets are in red, white and blue, and their top hats are adorned with upright pheasant feathers and various other adornments. Although black-faced for disguise, they are very approachable and happy to discuss morris matters with anyone interested.
