AELFGYTHE BORDER MORRIS

Aelfgythe Border Morris is based in Alvechurch, Worcestershire and we dance in the traditional border style.  Many of our dances are written by our Forewoman Jennie, and we also use traditional border dances – very often with our own ‘Gythe’ twist!  The side consists of female dancers, and male and female musicians.  We are excited to be entertaining the audience prior to The Lock Inn –Remixed, and hope you enjoy the performances both inside and outside the theatre.  If you would like to try dancing with us, or play an instrument and would like to join the band please contact Pam – The Squire – on 07961 830 831.  Alternatively, email us for more information.

JOCKEY MORRIS MEN

he Jockey Morris Men have been active in Birmingham since their formation in 1949. They have performed all over the country and have been proud to represent morris dancing, and the City of Birmingham, in places as far flung as Warwickshire, France, Flanders, Cyprus, Holland and Germany. Our last foreign trip saw us performing at sunrise in the Anderlecht district of Brussels before performing at a folk event in the town of Ninove and a street fayre in Brussels city centre. We like to keep our national folk tradition alive at home and abroad.

If you’ve ever thought that you might like to have a go at morris dancing why not get in touch with us. You will be able to do this by visiting our website.

STEP ON BOARD

Step on Board base their dancing style on the Appalachian dance tradition which, in turn, is based of the dance traditions of the many settlers who found their way to the Appalachian mountains some 200 years ago. We are a happy bunch who just enjoy expressing ourselves through dance…..the Appalachian influence is coincidental.
