Poynton Jemmers

Poynton Jemmers were formed in 1975 to revive and perform the traditional women`s morris dances of Cheshire and Lancashire. Many of our dances were collected from members of teams in existence in the early part of the 20th century. Over the years we have evolved our own style by adapting and expanding these dances, and by creating new ones in the same tradition.

The Jemmers are always looking for new members who would like to join in, have fun and keep fit.

Shaftesbury Dance

Shaftesbury Dance is a school that is celebrating its 50th year of teaching. We cover a range of styles from Ballroom, Latin and Rock’n’Roll, to Freestyle, Street, Ballet and Tap. As well as taking part in IDTA medal exams we have a determined competition squad that that have qualified to dance at national competitions around the country. We also have a dedicated show dance group that perform show choreography that incorporates all the different styles that the Dance School produces. We are going to be performing at Blackpool Tower Ballroom with a movie themed extravaganza soon. We work on different themes for our performances and our theme for Clonta Opera is ABBA. Who new so many dance styles could be danced to ABBA hits!! So all that’s left to say is “Thank you for the music”!
