We are a Knaresborough based team of male and female dancers with ages ranging from teens to early sixties. We have a distinctive green and brown costume, including face paints or masks, and an exuberant style of dancing. We formed in October 2009.
Most of our excursions are in the summer months locally on the streets/pubs, or at folk festivals and days of dance, but we do also like to continue the Molly tradition of dancing in the winter.
Unlike other forms of Morris dancing little has been recorded about Molly dancing. It is likely that it was adapted from the social dances of the time as a winter begging tradition.
We practice most Wednesday evenings at the Scout Hall in Knaresborough.

Ripon City Morris
Ripon City Morris Dancers were formed in 1982 to dances from the North West of England. North-West Morris is essentially an urban, processional
dance and aspects of its origins are still visible in the clogs and cotton slings. We chose a kit based on the patriotic colours of red white and blue with added gold braid to match Ripon City civic colours. We also chose to use fresh flowers in our hats, they therefore have to be made up each time we perform and reflect the seasons of the year.
