Dance display – Lincoln – 17th September 2017

POACHER MORRIS

Poacher Morris are Lincoln’s finest and original mixed Border Morris Team. We enjoy performing lively and energetic dances, and encourage new dancers and musicians to join us in fun, social, exercise.

Poacher Morris was formed in 1995 and we take our name from the song ‘The Lincolnshire Poacher’ and perform the dances of the Welsh Border tradition in our own “wild and exuberant” style which is much influenced by Shropshire Bedlams.

As a Border side we carry on the tradition of disguise with our own distinctive colours. Black to represent the border tradition and yellow for the Lincolnshire “yellowbelly”, (the name for a person born and bred within the county!). Our costume is made up of colourful rag coats and decorated top hats.

Throughout the year the team dances at local events, morris weekends and festivals.

We meet weekly to practice, teach those new to this style of dance, and to develop new dances. We meet 19:45 to 21:30 on Thursdays at the Methodist Church Hall, 175 Burton Road, Lincoln, LN1 3LW. New dancers and musicians are especially welcome – no experience necessary!

LILAC THEATRE DANCE

We are very proud of all our students, teachers and parents; for their passion and support and for contributing to what makes Lilac a very special dance school! Our small class sizes and expert tuition allows us to push each dancer to reach their highest potential. All pupils take regular examinations with the IDTA (we have a 100% pass rate) and participate in an annual show.

Since Lilac Theatre Dance opened in 2007, some of our success stories include; students being accepted on to full time training courses at Bird college, Addict dance studios, MADD and Chantry Dance.

At Lilac we only employ the very best teachers which sets us aside from other dance schools. In addition to being fully qualified and CRB checked, our team have ‘lived the dream’ as professional performers themselves and have invaluable contacts within the industry. Credits include: Little Shop of Horrors, Hello Dolly, Mad about the musicals, Fosse, Rocky Horror, Godspell, Celebrity Cruises, Princess Cruises, Pantomimes, TV and Film: Whitney Houston, Graham Norton, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Lady Dynamite, Bonnie Langford, Linda Robson, Beverly Knight.
