Knickerbocker Glory

Knickerbocker Glory is an Appalachian Dance team based in Alton, Hampshire.  We perform throughout the summer at festivals, fairs, pubs and barn dances all over Southern England.  In the winter, we meet regularly to practise, and just to be sociable.

We favour the precision clogging style of Appalachian dance.  In other words, we dance set routines to our audience.  Our style has developed and become more relaxed and spontaneous over the years, and we are currently trying to extend our repertoire by introducing more flat footing, freestyle dancing, and a wider range of music into our performances.  Photograph used with kind permission of the Bognor Observer.

Pilgrim Morris

Founded in 1972 Pilgrim Morris Men of Guildford dance a variety of traditions in the Cotwold Style including Adderbury, Ducklington, Bampton  – mainly traditional dances with a few of our devising for good measure.  We can be seen dancing at local events around Surrey and North East Hampshire as well as festivals and corporate events. Each year we host our very own Summerpole event and present a Twelfth Night mummers play touring some of the oldest pubs in Guildford –both worth checking out if you’re in the area. Being a Pilgrim is about more than dancing: we enjoy a music session after our gigs and have a strong social scene.

Sarum Morris

Sarum Morris first danced in 1982 and has always been a mixed Cotswold side, based in Salisbury. Whilst we mostly dance in the south of England, we have performed in Canada, France, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Ireland and occasionally venture into darkest Hampshire. We dance in the Oddington, Ilmington and Bampton traditions, with our own twist. Whether we are at a festival, a fete or a pub, we dance because we enjoy it, and Morris is fun.

Winchester Morris Men

Winchester Morris Men was formed on the 11th March 1953 in the Eclipse Inn, Winchester. Now in our 65th year, we continue our close association with the City of Winchester and regularly dance in the presence of the Mayor.  Our costume and dance style is reconstructed from that of the Cotswold region circa 1890, as collected by Cecil Sharp and others in Bampton, Bledington, Fieldtown and Ilmington.  Most of the dances we perform are in sets of six men.  Occasionally a jig danced by one or two men may be included in the programme.

We dance at variety of local functions and at a number of public houses, mainly during the summer, and often travel further afield to other sides’ events. Occasionally we have the pleasure of travelling abroad and have danced in France, the Netherlands and most recently Washington DC.

Knockhundred Shuttles

Knockhundred Shuttles are a North-West Morris side from Midhurst, West Sussex, England. Their pastimes mainly include drinking & singing.

Meon Valley Morris

Meon Valley Morris are a dance duo who were inspired by the modernising influences of “Riverdance”, “The Demon Barbers”, and “A Life With Bells On” to apply their combined 90 years of experience of over 20 different dance forms to their love of Morris Dancing. This has resulted in a blend of Cotswold, Rock’n’Roll, Boogie-Woogie, Clog, and Jump Jive danced to a 1930s and 40s Swing soundtrack. Their performances are always high energy, acrobatic, and entertaining whilst still being recognisably Cotswold or Clog traditions. Meon Valley Morris brings Morris Dancing bang up to date, as long as that date is around 1946.
